Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

I've been wanting a Spider-Man movie about Miles Morales for a while now and it's finally here! If you're not familiar with who Mile is that's O.K. the movie will introduce him to you. Most people are familiar with Peter Parker, but Miles Morales is a kid born and raised in Brooklyn New York, that also gets bitten by an experimental spider and gets the powers of a spider. He even gets some abilities that Peter doesn't have!

The movie follows Miles as he becomes Spider-Man while coming into contact with the Spider-Men/Women/Pig of other universes. He work to get them home while battling the main villain of the movie, Kingpin and his henchmen. Some other super villains come into play including Doc Oc, Scorpion and the Green Goblin.

The movie has fantastic voice actors behind the characters. Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, Mahershala Ali as Uncle Aaron, Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacey, Kimiko Glenn ass Peni Parker, and Zoe Kravits as Mary Jane to name some of the great talents in this movie.

Family is very important in black culture and there aren't many times in film where you see an involved loving black father. Miles has that, it's awesome to see throughout the movie. The relationship between Miles and his Uncle Aaron is also cool to see. The whole scene with Uncle Aaron trying to teach Miles how to spit game at the ladies is awkward as hell and totally awesome.

Miles has a Puerto Rican mom and that part of his culture is shown in the film a little too. Spanish is spoken in the film and there aren't any subtitles when it happens. It makes it feel more authentic to Miles, it's a part of who he is.

The animation in the movie is amazing! It feels like you're watching a comic book! The different styles of art incorporated into the movie mesh well together giving it a fresh look. The music goes well with the art style as well and is also a big part of describing who miles is and just how different he is then Peter when it comes down to being Spider-Man.

The story is well written and the character are all really cool and have there own unique style. The animation is stunning and it's a great introduction to Miles Morales as Spider-Man and I highly recommend seeing this movie. If you like this movie and want to read some awesome comics about Miles as Spider-Man check out some of the titles below.

Ultimate Comics Spider-Man (2012)

An awesome way to get reintroduced to Miles with the comics! The character's origins are a little different because Miles doesn't meet other Spider-Verse characters yet, but you still get to follow Miles on his journey to becoming Spider-Man. Balancing grades, friendships, and family while hiding the fact that you're a super hero isn't easy but Miles gets it done!
